Chisinau, 8 February /MOLDPRES/- Traffic on national and local roads is without difficulty in winter conditions, according to data by the State Road Administration (ASD).

Under ASD information, there have been conducted works of patrolling and snow removing last night. In this regard, 268 special vehicles, 424 road workers were involved in, and over 1,900 tons of antiskid material used.

In the context, the National Patrolling Inspectorate (INP) announced “there are not national roads with stopped movement due to bad weather, even if it snows in the form of sleet and ice is formed. Patrol inspectors have activated all night to ensure smooth running of traffic. Also, INP recommends drivers to adjust speed according to visibility and road conditions, increase the distance between vehicles, use lights and not to go out to risky overruns”, a press release by INP reads.

At the same time, the Customs Service informs participants in cross-border traffic that the wharf customs posts “Soroca” and “Cosauti” have temporarily suspended work due to the ice bridges formation across the Dniestre river. Also, there are traffic restrictions through internal customs control post “Rezina-pod”, and given the lack of electricity, in the Starokazacie (Ukraine) customs checkpoint border crossing is not authorized for freight transport through Tudora customs post.

The State Hydrometeorological Service announced yellow code of sudden change of weather throughout the country on 7-10 February. Thus, on this period, the air temperatures will significantly decrease, sleet and icy roads are expected. A similar situation is in Ukraine, where the traffic is difficult because of icy roads.
