Two Moldovan educational institutions closed due to bad weather conditions

Chisinau, 8 February /MOLDPRES/- Two educational institutions in the country have stopped working and pupils from seven settlements were not transported to district schools due to bad weather.
According to the Education Ministry’s press service, the two institutions are the lyceum in Ciumai, Taraclia district (235 pupils) and kindergarten (81 children) in the same settlement. Also, due to snowy and icy roads, pupils were not transported on four routes from Taraclia district, two routes in Soldanesti and one in Vulcanesti district.
“Due to no access of school bus to a village in Ocnita district, 25 pupils were not transported to district school. A number of 549 pupils were not transported to the district institutions. In other districts, Balti and Chisinau municipalities, all educational institutions are operating as normal”, a press release by the Education Ministry reads.
The State Hydrometeorological Service announced yellow code of sudden change of weather throughout the country on 7-10 February. Thus, on this period, the air temperatures will significantly decrease, sleet and icy roads are expected. A similar situation is in Ukraine, where the traffic is difficult because of icy roads.
