Moldovan participants in Chernobyl disaster relief works to be awarded state distinction

Chisinau, 08 February /MOLDPRES/ – The Cabinet of Ministers approved, in its today meeting, the establishment of distinction of the Commemorative Cross "Participant in liquidation of consequences of the catastrophe at Chernobyl nuclear plant in 1986." The Commemorative Cross is a corporate distinction of the Ministry of Labour, Social Protection and Family, which is conferred in recognition of personal sacrifice.
The Commemorative Cross was instituted in connection with the celebration of 30 years after the disaster at Chernobyl. The Ministry of Defence will ensure the deployment of necessary measures for making the distinction and the related ticket and the Ministry of Finance will allocate from the reserve fund, the amount of 799, 750 lei for making the Commemorative Cross.
Totally, there will be made 2300 awards, 100 of which for people from the left bank of the Dniester. The Commemorative Cross will be conferred on to persons who had suffered from the Chernobyl disaster, as well as the nuclear test participants and liquidation of consequences of failure to ionizing radiation from nuclear civilian or military targets during the military service.
