Chisinau, 8 February /MOLDPRES/ - The foreigners might pay the vignette during 24 hours after entering Moldova, according to a proposal made by Prime Minister Pavel Filip at a cabinet meeting today. “Let us give them right to pay the vignette during 24 hours after entering the country. And if they do not pay it, when leaving the country, they will have to pay both the vignette and the fine,” Filip said.
Transports and Roads Infrastructure Minister Iurie Chirinciuc came up with a proposal to pay the vignette online, after PM Pavel Filip had demanded that the procedure of paying the vignettes be simplified, as in the present conditions, the access to customs is blocked and traffic jams are formed at the border.
“We had the last summing-up meeting on the payment of vignette. We ruled to implement solutions to simplify the procedure of issuing the vignette. Next week, we will do all tests, so that, starting from 20 February we implement this procedure of online payment. Also, we propose control only at the exit from the country, not also at the entrance,” Chirinciuc noted.
PM Filip said he did not believe that this is the only solution and that the Finance Ministry and Transports and Roads Infrastructure Ministry should identify also other procedures, as nobody knows the number of citizens going to appeal to the online service.
PM Pavel Filip has earlier asked the Customs Service, Electronic Governance Centre, Transports and Roads Infrastructure Ministry, Information Technology and Communications Ministry and Interior Ministry to come up with proposals to simplify the concerned procedure and optimize the time for crossing the border.
