NATO Liaison Office in Chisinau to be open next April

Chisinau, 08 February /MOLDPRES/ – Prime Minister Pavel Filip demanded information on the process of establishing a NATO Liaison Office in Chisinau, at the meeting of the Executive today, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
Since 26 December 2016, it entered into force the Agreement on establishment of a NATO Liaison Office in Chisinau, while the accreditation process is ongoing. NATO Headquarters identified the person conducting Liaison Office in Chisinau. Kristina Baleisyte, originally from Lithuania, previously deputy head of the NATO Liaison Office in Georgia, will hold the position of Head of Liaison Office in Chisinau. The remaining staff will be civil, not including military men, as it is a diplomatic mission.
In the nearest future to be identified Office headquarters and in the first half of the second quarter it is expected to be open.
We remind, that on 29 November 2016, it was signed an agreement in Brussels on establishment of NATO Liaison Office in Chisinau.
