Moldovan participants in Chernobyl disaster relief works to be awarded state distinctions

Chisinau, 08 February /MOLDPRES/ – The participants in liquidation of consequences of Chernobyl catastrophe will be decorated with state awards. In this regard, the Cabinet of Ministers approved today the establishment of the Commemorative Cross "Participant in liquidation of consequences of the catastrophe at Chernobyl nuclear station in 1986", the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

However, 2,300 people, including 100 people from the left bank of Dniester, will receive awards. The total cost for making distinctions is about 800 thousand lei, which will be allocated from the Reserve Fund of the Government.

The measure comes as appreciation of merit and sacrifice of Moldovan citizens who participated in liquidation of consequences of Chernobyl nuclear power station disaster in 1986.
