Business people from United Arab Emirates urged to invest in Moldova

Chisinau, 9 February /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Pavel Filip had a meeting with Minister of Economy of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri. The officials approached issues related to strengthening bilateral dialogue, developing economic relations, focusing on drawing UAE investments in Moldova’s economy, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
In the context, the premier noted that Moldova had signed an agreement with IMF stipulating an ambitious programme on revival and development of the economy. Also, it was able to defrost financial assistance from external donors and to ensure access to international financial means. According to the premier, Moldova is a safe country for investment.
“We are in a continuous process of activation and consolidation of multisectoral relations with neighbors and states in the region. Basically, Moldova has very good relations with its neighbors and is a gateway to the EU by having a free trade agreement with the EU”, Filip said.
Filip pointed out that the government’s main priority was drawing foreign investments and improving people’s living conditions. In this regard, a lot of important decisions had been taken as regards improving business environment, reducing the number of bodies with control functions and of permits, as well as the number of reports which the economic agents must submit to the state institutions.
“We are flexible, we will do our best to remove any bureaucratic barriers faced by business representatives. We invite you to participate with investment in the areas you are interested in. We intend to create more investment opportunities by applying mechanisms of free economic zones, industrial parks and IT parks”, Filip said.
The premier invited the UAE companies to actively participate in the privatization planned for 2017. According to the premier, 2017 is the year of economic growth and investment.
For his part, Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri expressed interest in strengthening political and economic partnership with Moldova and willingness to provide expertise and logistical assistance to Moldova. Among the areas of interest were highlighted infrastructure, agriculture, food safety, IT sector.
The official welcomed conducting the business people forum in Chisinau and invited the premier to attend a investment forum in Abu Dhabi in April 2017, as well as in Expo Dubai 2020.
