Chisinau municipal councillors adopt 2017 budget in first reading

Chisinau, 10 February /MOLDPRES/ – The budget of Chisinau municipality for 2017 was approved on 09 February in the first reading by the vote of 28 councilors.
The document provides revenues of about 3.3 billion lei, expenses totalling 3.67 billion lei and a budget deficit of almost 400 million lei. As source for deficit cover there will be used funds obtained from sale of fixed assets, external sources and internal funding sources. Out of the income amount, about 1.5 billion lei represent transfers from the state budget.
From the municipal budget for 2017, most funds will be allocated for education – 1.7 billion lei, for healthcare – 67 million lei, for culture – around 155 million lei, social spending – 2.19 million lei etc., and ten million lei are planned for the reserve fund of the municipality. At the same time, it provides repayment of loans amounting up to 123718.4 thousand lei.
The counselors have to come with budget amendments and proposals, after which it will be voted in its second reading. At present, municipality functions upon the provisional budget. The Municipal budget for 2016 was approved in July, with a deficit in the amount of one hundred million lei.
