Road traffic without difficulty in Moldova

Chisinau, 10 February /MOLDPRES/- Traffic on national roads is without difficulty in winter conditions, the head of the State Road Administration’s operative service, Sergiu Capatina, said.

Road traffic is practicable for all types of transport. “Currently, there are no difficulties on the country’s roads. Overnight about 90 special vehicles and over 200 workers intervened to clearing snow and combating slide. Road workers used over 434 tons of antiskid material”, Capatina said.

At the same time, representatives of the Border Police announced that due to ice bridges formation across the Dniestre river, Soroca crossing point remained inoperative. Also for this reason, checkpoints Cosauti and Vasilcau are closed.

For her part, press officer of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service Diana Turcanu said that overnight rescuers and firefighters had not intervened in the territory. “We will monitor the situation, if necessary, we will take action to help citizens. However, we recommend drivers to equip their vehicles properly. People at risk can call the 901 service”, Turcanu said.

In the context, the press officer of the National Patrol Inspectorate, Alina Bundez, said that in last 24 hours, “three road accidents occurred in the country resulted in four persons injured”.

The State Hydrometeorological Service announced yellow code of frosty weather throughout the country on 9-10 February. Meteorologists forecast that the air temperature will reach – 13 degrees during the day and  – 16 degrees at night. In the northern country the air temperature will not exceed – 14 degrees during the day and – 15 degrees at night. In south, thermometers will show up to – 12 degrees during the day and – 15 degrees at night.
