Chisinau, 13 February /MOLDPRES/ – Vignette payment and verification will be done from 20 February at leaving Moldova as well as online, by accessing page e-vinieta.md, announced representatives of the Ministry of Transports and Road Infrastructure (MTID), during a press conference today.
State Secretary of MTID, Oleg Tofilat, said the main purpose of this amendment is to reduce and simplify customs queues extending the vignette method. "The payment vignette control will pass from entry to exit the country and will be carried out by the Customs Service, as well, payment receipts will be made in any branch of Moldova Agroindbank /MAIB/, including at the border. It will also be possible vignette and online payment through the system Mpay", said Tofilat.
At his turn, director of the Center for Electronic Governance, Eugeniu Ursu said that accessing page evinieta.md citizens will be able to submit an application for label, amount needed to pay for it and check later term and validity period. "At the same time, citizens who do not know how to do this will be able to apply to any MAIB subsidiary, bank will complete the request of the applicant's name and it will pay for the Vignette extra charge for the service provided (7 lei for simple vignette or 1,5 per cent of vignette of other categories). Those who complete the forms on-line will pay only the fee provided for within vignette, no bank fee", Ursu said.
In this context, deputy minister of MTID, Vitalie Rapcea said that that system would work temporarily, because "they are currently working on implementing a new special e-vignette software, which will enable to provide information exchange between police structures, Border Police and Customs Service on payment of road tax by foreign drivers. Also, drivers may use this updated and integrated system for procurement, payment and verification of data on toll use. Software costs 700 thousand lei and will be released in early autumn 2017".
Activities on amending vignette purchase were made on demand of Prime Minister Pavel Filip, so as to eliminate lines at border crossings. Currently, the fee for vignette is 4 euros for 7 days, 8 euros for 15 days, 26 euros for 30 days etc.
