Moldovan government sets new alcohol limits for drivers

Chisinau, 15 February /MOLDPRES/ – The Cabinet meeting approved today amendments and additions to Regulation on alcohol testing and medical examination for determining intoxication and its nature, the government's communication and protocol department has informed.

The new provisions establish the review of minimum degree limit of alcohol concentration in blood, which is 0.5 g/l in blood, respectively, minimum degree of concentration of alcohol in breath, which is 0.3 mg/l. Under previous rules, it stipulated that intoxication with alcohol minimum grade was evidenced in the case of laying alcohol concentration of 1.0 g/l in blood and 0.5 mg/l in exhaled air.

Changes were made to prevent alcohol abuse, eliminate consequences of alcohol dependence and promote a healthy lifestyle.
