Moldovan deputy premier attends international conference on economic security

Chisinau, 15 February /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister Gheorghe Balan has taken part in an international conference titled, Economic Security in Extended Black Sea Region and Eurasia, organized by the George C. Marshall European Centre for Security Studies from Germany. Experts of Moldova and from abroad, representatives of Moldovan local public authorities, diplomatic, academic and associative environments participated in the conference, the Bureau for Reintegration has reported.
At the event, Gheorghe Balan made a short presentation and answered questions by the audience of the session, Security Challenges in Extended Black Sea Region and Eurasia. He referred to the main threats presently faced by the national security, among which: corruption phenomenon, shadow economy, impossibility to enforce the legislation in force in areas temporarily uncontrolled, foreign political pressures, non-settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, etc.
Balan noted that, despite these circumstances, Moldova’s authorities assume commitments and take continuous efforts to back the residents and promote the social and economic development, with the settlement of pressing problems and improving the living standards of the residents from both banks of Dniester. According to the deputy prime minister, the approaches of this kind help edify a multilaterally developed, prosperous and attractive state for foreign investors, development partners and other relevant actors.
