Chisinau, 15 February /MOLDPRES/ – At the beginning of today sitting of the Cabinet of Ministers, Prime Minister Pavel Filip made a retrospective of his official visit to Kiev, noting that discussions were productive and Ukrainian authorities are open to dialogue, the government's communication and protocol department has informed.

The prime minister said that during his meetings with his Ukrainian counterpart, Vladimir Groisman, and the President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, there were addressed more current topics for Moldova and Ukraine, including: the intensification of bilateral economic cooperation, cross – border collaboration and importance of protecting the ecosystem of the river Dniester.

"The most important issue that we discussed was to protect the ecosystem of the Dniester River on the whole bed of it. Furthermore, we have mutually agreed to create a joint commission to evaluate the potential environmental impacts of the energy complex of the Dniester on the ecosystem of the river and together we will address the European Commission for support in this regard, so as to have a deep analysis", said Pavel Filip. The prime minister pointed out that, despite speculation, dialogue on this sensitive topic advanced.

The head of government said that the necessary measures to protect the Dniester ecosystem were included in the Roadmap of Moldovan-Ukrainian cooperation development for 2017, signed on Monday, 13 February 2017 in Kiev. "It is a very significant theme, as this river supplies potable water not only to Chisinau and Odessa, and other places both in Ukraine and in the Republic of Moldova", Pavel Filip said.
