PM says Moldova should work for European integration to become irreversible

Chisinau, 15 February /MOLDPRES/ - The calendar of joint meetings Moldova-EU, scheduled for 2017, in the context of implementation of the Moldova – European Union Association Agreement, actions planned for this year, as well as the evolution of the trade with the EU member states were the main subjects considered at a today’s meeting of the governmental commission for European integration (CGIE), the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
Prime Minister Pavel Filip asked the cabinet members to prove maximum responsibility in implementing the commitments taken before the European authorities. “Moldova’s transformation will take place only when we implement the provisions of the Moldova-EU Association Agreement. There are no miracles; we must work for the European integration of our country to become irreversible. We have the needed capacities, we should prove mobilization,” Pavel Filip stressed.
According to data unveiled by the economics minister, in 2016, Moldova’s exports to the European Union member states accounted for 65 per cent of overall export, recording a 9.4-per cent rise against 2015 and exceeded 1.33 billion dollars. And this while the imports increased by about one per cent, standing at 1.97 billion lei. At the same time, the number of economic agents exporting to EU increased and the assortment of products exported to the European market has become more varied.
At the meeting, PM Pavel Filip instructed the creation of a working group due to analyze the degree of carrying out the commitments coming from the Agreement on the European Common Aviation Area and to elaborate a schedule on speeding up the process of their implementation. “There is every openness on behalf of the EU countries for the Moldovan government and this openness will exist as long as we prove that we are serious and implement the commitments taken,” the prime minister added.
