Chisinau, 16 February /MOLDPRES/ - The concert hall of the Ciprian Porumbescu Musical Boarding Lyceum is to be renovated. Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu today offered to the lyceum a first contribution worth 100,000 lei to start restoration works. This money was collected within a charity event, organized by the parliament and Romania’s Royal House, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
“This first donation is not enough to cover all the costs of the renovation and endowing the concert hall with musical instruments and furniture. Yet, we will contribute in continuation, in order to collect the needed total sum. We are now discussing with our partners, including the international ones, to back the children. The talents must evolve in good conditions,” the parliament speaker said.
Andrian Candu noted that he would discuss with the finance minister and the prime minister to redirect the budgetary sources necessary for the renovation of the lyceum’s concert hall. The speaker and the institution’s leadership agreed on establishing a partnership between the parliament and the lyceum, stressing that the parliament would institutionally take care of the lyceum, where gifted children from all over Moldova study.
In the context, Andrian Candu pointed out a string of actions planned for 2017 to support the lyceum. The speaker informed that the Awards of the Parliament Speaker for the most gifted and diligent pupils of the lyceum would be established starting from this year. Also, lyceum’s pupils will sing the national anthem in parliament at the opening and closing of parliamentary sessions.
“You start next week, when we open the spring parliamentary session. Let us establish a tradition – at each important event, at the opening and closing of parliamentary sessions, lyceum’s pupils are to sing the national anthem or musical compositions fitting solemnities,” Andrian Candu said.
For his part, the speaker received presents. A small seven-year-old piano player, Catherine de Caraman, laureate of numerous international contests, gave the speaker a CD with classical music sung by her, noting that this was for the three children brought up by Andrian Candu.
The headmaster of the lyceum, Valeriu Luta, thanked the speaker, on behalf of teachers and pupils, and invited him to come back to the lyceum to see the changes in the institution.
