Management of Moldovan Army's stocks of weapons, ammunition discussed at international conference  

Chisinau, 16 February /MOLDPRES/ – The Defence Ministry hosted today, firstly, Conference at High Level on Small Arms and Light Weapons, Conventional Ammunition, as well as Physical Security and Management of stocks of the National Army (High-level National SALW and CA Conference).

At the conference, attended by representatives of state institutions of Moldova, diplomatic missions accredited in Chisinau, various international institutions, were discussed topics on progress and problems in the management of arms and ammunition’s stocks, as planning future activities. In this context, Deputy Defence Minister, Gheorghe Galbur appreciated the support from partners in the implementation of important projects in the field, noting their role and need to preserve security and safety of Moldova's population.

The representative of the OSCE Mission to Moldova, Stephen Young, said that the National Army has always been a reliable partner of the organization, particularly through the programs and projects that have contributed to the modernization of the defence establishment, also reduce the risk of explosion of ammunition stocks of the National Army. He added that OSCE mission, as other international organizations participating in the event, will continue to support the National Army through expertise, knowledge and capabilities, and the conference was a good opportunity to establish new field priorities.
