Romanian government approves second installment for Moldova

Chisinau, 17 February /MOLDPRES/- Romania will provide Moldova with the second installment worth 50 million euros of the loan approved in 2016 amounting to 150 million euros, a month earlier, on 27 February, under a government decision of Bucharest.
“It is approved the amendment /…./ to the agreement on refundable financial assistance between Romania and Moldova signed in Chisinau on 7 October 2015, concerning the notification and confirmation of meeting the condition required to release the second installment and setting date on 27 February 2017”, the decision reads.
The loan is made under the agreement on refundable financial assistance between Romania and Moldova ratified in 2016.
In January 2017, the Romanian Ministry of Public Finance and Justice Ministry and Moldovan Finance Ministry agreed by exchange of letters “to change the date for releasing the second installment of 50 million euros of 31 March 2017 on 27 February 2017. “
The effectiveness of the facility of financing provided by IMF to Moldova represents a prerequisite needed to release the second installment of refundable financial assistance granted by Romania, the Ministry of Public Finance has earlier mentioned.
The first installment of the loan stipulated in the agreement amounting to 60 million euros was granted on 24 August 2016.
