Moldovan parliament speaker meets IMF representatives

Chisinau, 20 February /MOLDPRES/ - The implementation of the Programme with IMF is treated with responsibility and the actions undertaken are focused on efficiency and transparency. Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu made statements to this effect at a today’s meeting with a team of experts of the International Monetary Fund, on a 14-28 February working visit to Chisinau, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
The parliament speaker said the Agreement with IMF meant not only financing, but, first of all, support to implement the reforms assumed. Andrian Candu informed that the authorities had worked out an agenda of reforms, discussed at a government-parliament joint meeting. According to Candu, the two institutions will further coordinate actions for the successful implementation of the reforms. The 2017-2018 years are to become years of modern approaches, of development and institutional construction, Andrian Candu stressed.
The parliament speaker unveiled the actions taken to modernize the legal framework in the energy sector, making more transparent the procedure of buying energy resources, as well as measures adopted to strengthen the role and enhance the independence of the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE), according to the international requirements.
Andrian Candu thanked the former head of the IMF million, Ivanna Vladkova-Hollar for cooperation and support provided to sign the Memorandum with IMF.
The head of the mission, Ben Kelmanson, said the experts analyzed the recent developments and would make a revision on the policies’ dimension.
