Moldova, Italy mark 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations' establishment

Chisinau, 21 February /MOLDPRES/ - Foreign Minister of Moldova Andrei Galbur and Foreign Minister of Italy Angelino Alfano today exchanged congratulatory messages on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of Moldovan-Italian bilateral relations.
According to the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service, in his message sent to his Italian counterpart, Minister Andrei Galbur said that, during the 25 years, the two countries had established an excellent cooperation, both bilateral and multilateral, with Italy becoming an important supporter of Moldova’s efforts of modernization and aligning with the European standards. The official highlighted, in particular, that on this period, the economic dimension of the bilateral ties had witnessed an ascendant evolution, as Italy is the second commercial partner of Moldova among the European Union member countries, according to the carrying out of exports and the third European partner in terms of imports.
For his part, Italian Foreign Minister Angelino Alfano welcomed the boosting of the Moldovan-Italian relations in the economic, cultural and social sectors. “We firmly support Moldova’s way towards implementation of the Association Agreement and Free Trade Agreement, signed with the European Union. The joint Moldovan-Italian declaration from 2014 will continue to represent an important reference point for strengthening our dialogue and for cooperation in more and more fields,” the message reads.
At the same time, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations, Deputy Foreign Minister Daniela Morari today participated in the official launch of a stamp with special obliteration, Twenty Five Years of Diplomatic Relations Republic of Moldova – Italian Republic, elaborated by Posta Moldovei (Moldova’s Post) enterprise. The stamp is applied on an envelope with special drawing, which includes more states with which Moldova signed agreements on establishment of diplomatic ties in 1992. The event took place at the headquarters of the Italian Embassy in Chisinau.
