Moldova, Canada mark 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations' establishment

Chisinau, 21 February /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova’s Foreign and European Integration Ministry (MAEIE) welcomes the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Moldova and Canada. The ministry expresses confidence that the good friendship and cooperation ties between both countries will witness a rise in diverse fields of mutual interest, the MAEIE information and media communication service has reported.
The Moldovan Foreign and European Integration Ministry and the Foreign Ministry of Canada exchanged congratulatory messages on the occasion of the diplomatic anniversary on 20 February 2017.
Thus, the head of the Moldovan diplomacy said that, “in a quarter of century, due to the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Moldova and Canada, many opportunities of cooperation have been turned to good account for the benefit of both countries and the opening of Moldova’s Embassy in Canada in December 2013 boosted significantly the bilateral contacts at diverse levels and allowed tripling the Moldovan goods exports to the sales market of Canada. At the same time, Foreign and European Integration Minister Andrei Galbur highlighted the fact that “Canada has been and remains a strong voice to back the agenda of domestic reforms from Moldova, the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as efforts of European integration.”
At the same time, according to the Ottawa Foreign Ministry, “Canada highly appreciates the cooperation relations with Moldova” and “speaks out for advancing the bilateral dialogue, in order to turn to account the new opportunities of collaboration, emerged due to a solid foundation of friendship and cooperation, shaped during 25 years, as well as following the opening of Moldova’s Embassy in Canada in 2013.”
Moldova established diplomatic ties with Canada on 20 February 1992.
