Moldova to collaborate with Cyprus in fields of joint interest

Chisinau, 21 February /MOLDPRES/ – Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration welcomes the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Moldova and the Republic of Cyprus. On this occasion, there took place an exchange of letters of congratulations between Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Galbur, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration and Cypriot Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.

In his letter, the head of the Moldovan diplomacy pointed out that within 25 years of diplomatic relations, these ones developed into a pragmatic and friendly mode. He also emphasized that, by means of joint efforts, it was succeeded laying the foundations of development the bilateral benefit relations between the Republic Moldova and Cyprus. Minister Galbur reiterated Moldova's willingness to cooperate with Cyprus in multidimensional areas of common interest, including the segment related to Moldova's European course.

At his part, the Cypriot counterpart emphasized the advanced character of Moldovan – Cypriot relations, reiterating the commitment and determination of the Government of Cyprus to promote practical cooperation between Moldova and Cyprus throughout bilateral relations. Minister Kasoulides expressed appreciation for the continuous support of Moldova to the efforts of the government of Cyprus to find a lasting political settlement and viable reunification of the country.

Moldova established diplomatic relations with the Republic of Cyprus on 21 February 1992.
