Chisinau, 24 February /MOLDPRES/ - The MPs of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) today filed a simple motion against Health Minister Ruxanda Glavan, as a result of the increase in tariffs for certain medical services for non-insured persons.
According to the motion’s authors, the health minister would be guilty of an increase in prices for medical services, which triggered more discontent in the society. In the context, the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM) asked for the hearing of the health minister at a today’s parliament meeting; yet, most lawmakers did not back the initiative.
During a news briefing today, Health Minister Ruxanda Glavan made specifications on the increase in the tariffs for certain medical services. Thus, the new tariffs will not affect the citizens having mandatory health insurance policy (86 per cent of Moldova’s residents), but only the persons who do not hold it. “This has been done to motivate the medically non-insured citizens to buy policies, as well as for reason that the tariffs for medical services are adjusted every two years. Last time, the prices were revised in 2011,” Glavan said.
The specialty commissions and the Standing Bureau of the parliament are to establish the date of the motion’s consideration in a 14-day period.
