Diaspora Relations Bureau to send martisors made by Moldova's children to Moldovans' associations

Chisinau, 24 February /MOLDPRES/ - The Diaspora Relations Bureau (BRD) till 1 March will send 1,500 martisors (trinkets worn in honour of 1 March), made by Moldova’s children, to Moldovans’ associations and diplomatic missions from abroad.
According to the BRD press service, the action fits into a campaign titled „Mărțișor cu DOR de-acasă” (Martisor with Homesickness), organized by BRD for the fourth year in a row in partnership with the CULTUM Centre for Rehabilitation and Social Integration of Children with Intellectual Disabilities from the Stauceni, village, Chisinau municipality. In 2017, the Phoenix day centre for disabled children from the northern Riscani town joined the campaign.
The action’s goal is to preserve the traditions and customs specific for Moldova, as well as to promote the rights and positive image of persons with disabilities, raise the awareness of the society about the problems and potential of the disabled persons and the need of their social, educational and professional integration.
This year, martisors will be shipped to 14 countries: Austria, Russia, Kazakhstan, France, the United Kingdom, Hungary, Latvia, Finland, Spain, Italy, Norway, Portugal, the USA, Canada. Also, the Moldovans from the Diaspora will receive national costumes, books for children, a tourism booklet EtnoMoldova, a magazine titled ”Moldova de oriunde” (Moldova from Everywhere), maps, calendars.
BRD has sent over 14,000 martisors to the Diaspora since the launch of the „Mărțișor cu DOR de-acasă” campaign till present.
