Moldova, Estonia to strengthen bilateral relations

Chisinau, 28 February /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Pavel Filip had a meeting with Estonian Foreign Minister Sven Mikser on 27 February, who is on an official visit to Moldova, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The sides approached current issues on the agenda of bilateral relations, including implementation of reform agenda of government in Chisinau. At the same time, they discussed the perspective for strategic development of the Eastern Partnership, in the context of the summit of organization in November, as well as new goals in extending and deepening cooperation in the various areas: strategic communication, transfer of experience in the health system, rural development, cooperation in agriculture.
Filip noted Estonia’s significant contribution to support the reforms promoted by the government. “Implementing reforms is measured by results, not by statements, and landmarks taken from the Baltic States, especially from Estonia, give us assurances that Moldova follows the European integration path. I am referring to pension reform, public administration reform and other issues of common interest”, he said.
For his part, the European official reiterated Estonia’s support for Moldova’s European agenda, pointing out the successful cooperation between the two states in health care, justice and electronic government. “It is very important to be involved in implementing reforms and continuing Moldova’s European integration, and cooperation relations between our countries remain a priority”, Mikser said.
