Veterans of Afghanistan, Transnistria wars to get higher disability pensions

Chisinau, 1 March /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet, at a today’s meeting, approved amendments and completions to the law on supply with pensions of servicemen and persons of the officer corps of the interior bodies’ troops, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
Under the draft, the disability pension will be increased for the war veterans of the seasoned military, as a result of participation in the Afghanistan war and combat actions for the defence of Moldova’s territorial integrity and independence. Thus, the pension of the people with severe disability degree will increase by 1,842 lei and will amount to 3,500 lei monthly and the pension of the people with pronounced disability will stand at 2,500 lei, up by 1,062 lei. At the same time, the sum provided for the persons with medium disability will grow by 908 lei up to 1,500 lei.
The document’s goal is the social protection of the war veterans, in order to implement an action plan titled, Memory. Honour. Respect, launched by the government.
