Moldovan cabinet of ministers adopts draft law on museums

Chisinau, 01 March /MOLDPRES/ – The Government approved in its today meeting, the draft Law on museums, which aims to modernize and improve the efficiency of museums in Moldova.

According to the government’s communication and protocol department, the document guidelines establishment and classification of museums, museum heritage, technical and material basis of museum funding. Additionally, for effective monitoring of museum activity, was introduced the procedure for accreditation, reorganization and liquidation of museums.

The project provides for a methodical centre in museology which will assist the relevant institutions. The Culture Ministry will collaborate with Education Ministry to instruct specialists, as well as inclusion of educational programs of museums in school curricula.

The law on museums was developed in order to enforce the commitments assumed by Moldova within the Association Agreement with the European Union and in accordance with the Development Strategy of Culture "Culture 2020".
