Premier says 2 March to become national union day in Moldova

Chisinau, 02 March /MOLDPRES/ – Prime Minister Pavel Filip laid flowers at the monument "Mother in Grief" at complex "Eternity" in the capital and attended the meeting, commemorating the heroes who died in battle actions on the River Dniester, held in village Varnita, Anenii Noi district, today when we celebrate 25 years of the armed conflict on the Dniester, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
Addressing veterans and relatives of deceased heroes on the battlefield, the Prime Minister said that 02 March had a special significance for the Republic of Moldova, marking the moment when the whole society was mobilized to defend the territorial integrity and independence of Moldova. "Today has to be the one of our national union. It is the day to forget the differences that divide us, to remind us of the things that really bind us and make us a society. And these things are the desire to live in freedom in an independent and democratic country. We have a duty never to forget the bravery did everybody who jumped to defend the country in a difficult time for it," said Pavel Filip.
The head of the Cabinet of Ministers gave assurances that the government would make every further effort to ensure better living conditions to veterans. "We will make sure that you also benefit by the attention that is to your merits. It is our duty to do it. And it should not be only on this day, but always. However, the Action Plan "Memory. Honour. Respect.", which was launched by the Government, just is considering that," said Pavel Filip.
The prime minister also noted that, unfortunately, even after 25 years, Moldova has remained a divided society. In context, Pavel Filip urged veterans and villagers of Varnita to support government efforts to ensure stability, peace and tranquility in society. "The thing which can make us strong is to be united. Let us be united as citizens of this country, let us be smart and work for becoming a developed country," concluded the Prime Minister.
