Chisinau, 02 March /MOLDPRES/ – The parliamentary majority rejected the simple motion initiated by Socialist parliament members against Health Minister Ruxanda Glavan today.
According to the authors of the motion, the Health Minister would be guilty of higher prices of medical services, which brought to more discontent in society.
While presenting the report, the Health Minister said that the new tariffs would not affect citizens who held obligatory health insurance (86 per cent of the population), but only those who did not possess it. "It was done to motivate uninsured citizens to buy medical policies, but also the reason is that tariffs for medical services are adjusted every two years. The last time prices were revised in 2011," said Glavan.
The official specified that the change was made in response to a referral on behalf of doctors and medical institutions. "Low prices for patients generate double or triple spending for medical institutions. However, you should be aware that low cost does not guarantee the quality of health services," said Glavan.
In this regard, the Socialist members of parliament stated that "after the increases, socially vulnerable people will not have access to paid medical services because of increased prices."
After discussions, simple motion against Health Minister was not approved by Parliament, not meeting the required number of votes.
