Moldovan drivers with aggressive bahaviour in traffic to be fined

Chisinau, 2 March /MOLDPRES/ - Drivers showing an aggressive behavior in traffic will be fined, in accordance with legislative amendments and completions adopted by the parliament in the final reading today.
According to the draft’s authors, the amendments aim at enhancing the traffic safety.
The document describes as aggressive behavior the manoeuvres in the traffic which groundlessly create obstacles to movement and jeopardize the rights of other participants in the traffic.
Drivers run the risk of getting fines ranging from 3,750 and 5,000 lei and five penalty points or non-remunerated work for the benefit of the community during 20-40 hours or conventional arrest for a 15-day period. In all cases, drivers will be deprived or not of the right to drive for a term from six months to one year.
Data by the Interior Ministry shows that about 90 per cent of the traffic accidents occur due to the fault of drivers, because of exceeding the speed limit, ignoring the road signs and road surface markings or because of drunk driving.
