Germany appreciates efforts of reform implementation in Moldova

Chisinau, 8 March /MOLDPRES/- Efforts to implement the reforms undertaken by Moldova when signing the Association Agreement are appreciated by Germany. Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu had a meeting with Minister of State for Europe Michael Roth in Berlin. He encouraged the authorities to speed up reforms even if they are at times painful for people, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.

The speaker presented the situation in the country, reiterated the authorities’ commitment to implement the reforms for the country’s modernization and integration into the EU. Also, he thanked for the support provided by Germany at bilateral level, as well as within EU.

“Moldova is a European country”, Roth said. He said that the Eastern Europe and in particular Moldova is a special responsibility for Germany. He noted that Moldova would become strong and unified, if by implementing reforms it manages to set up a balanced social market economy and rule of law.

Candu pays a working visit to Germany on 7-9 March. He had meetings with President of the German Bundestag Norbert Lammert, Vice-President of the Bundestag Ulla Schmidt, representatives of parliamentary commission on European affairs, commission on foreign policy, as well as with representatives of German government.

Also, Candu met diaspora in Berlin, a group of potential investors, representatives of top companies from Germany. He participated in a roundtable organized by the Representation of the European Commission in Berlin and DGAP, as well as a meeting organized by the German-Moldovan Forum jontly with Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Berlin.
