Moldovan cabinet approves strategy for ensuring equality between women and men

Chisinau, 9 March /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet, at a today’s meeting, approved a strategy for ensuring equality between women and men in Moldova for 2017-2021, as well as an action plan on its implementation, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.   

The strategy’s goal consists in empowering women and the de facto implementation of the equality between women and men in Moldova, by achieving five general objectives, followed by specific objectives, on fields of reference: ensuring complex approach of the equality between women and men; strengthening the institutional mechanism of ensuring the equality between women and men; combating stereotypes in the society and promotion of the non-violent communication; promotion of the gender equality in the security and defence sector; sensible budgeting at the gender dimension.      

The goals set for the next five years show the global tendencies and the carrying out of the commitments taken by Moldovan internationally, focused on ensuring the observance of human rights, functioning of democracy and economic growth based on competitiveness.    

The financing of the actions provided for in the strategy’s action plan will be made from and within the limits of the allocations approved on these purposes in the budgets of the public authorities involved, as well as from other sources.
