Chisinau hosts Moldovan-Russian political consultations

Chisinau, 13 March /MOLDPRES/ – Chisinau has hosted today a new round of Moldo – Russian political consultations. The Moldovan side was represented by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Lilian Darii, while the Russian one by State Secretary, Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.
There was made a broad exchange of opinions on current patterns on the agenda of relations between Moldova and the Russian Federation during the consultations, in particular, regarding the promotion of political dialogue, intensify of trade-economic cooperation, interaction in cultural-humanitarian sphere, consolidation of bilateral legal framework.
The sides confirmed mutual interest in continuing the political dialogue at different levels in order to overcome the problems that persist in Moldovan-Russian relations and ensure positive dynamics in the development of mutually beneficial cooperation in common interest fields. They underlined the actions taken lately to achieve agreements reached during the meeting in Moscow on 29 November 2016 of the Moldo-Russian Intergovernmental Commission on economic cooperation, specifically, the resumption of exports of Moldovan products on the Russian market and settlement of the problems faced by Moldovan migrants. In the same context, the two officials were in favour of eliminating regrettable incidents that occurred at border crossings checkpoints with involvement of officials.
The two diplomats pronounced for a more active process of negotiation regarding the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict and solving problems faced by people on both sides of the Dniester. Deputy Minister Lilian Darii reiterated the point of view of the Moldovan authorities on the need to withdraw Russian troops and ammunition from Moldova, noting that it would help in creating a more conducive atmosphere to finding a comprehensive and sustainable solution of the Transnistrian conflict, respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Moldova.
