Moldovan premier meets Russian deputy foreign minister

Chisinau, 14 March /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip today had a meeting with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin. The sides tackled issues of strengthening and developing the bilateral relations, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.    

The officials highlighted the ascendant dynamic of the political dialogue at all levels. In 2016, Prime Minister Pavel Filip met Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev. The foreign ministers from the two countries had meetings and the Moldovan-Russian intergovernmental commission for commercial and economic cooperation held a meeting in Moscow in last November.     

PM Pavel Filip reiterated Moldova’s interest in the consolidation and deepening of cooperation with Russia in diverse sectors, including the trade and economic ones. In the context, the prime minister praised the decision by the Russian side to allow seven Moldovan enterprises to export wine production to the Russian market. Filip voiced hope that this list would be extended and the selective criterion in giving export permits would be abolished in the nearest time. At the same time, the PM referred to the opportunity to give up the imposing of customs duties on the export of 19 categories of Moldovan goods to Russia.

At the same time, Pavel Filip appreciated the Russian side’s decision on the migration amnesty for Moldova’s citizens.

The prime minister also touched upon the opportunity to boost the inter-parliamentary dialogue, including within the parliamentary friendship groups.  

For his part, Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Grigory Karasin confirmed the Russian side’s interest in the development of the bilateral ties for the benefit of the two countries’ citizens.  

At the meeting, special attention was paid to the Transnistrian problem settlement. The PM stressed the importance to solve concrete problems faced by the residents from both banks of Dniester, in order to strengthen the trust and achieve mutual agreements.   

The officials also exchanged opinions on the development of the bilateral cooperation in the humanitarian and cultural sectors.
