Chisinau, 15 March /MOLDPRES/- Officers of the National Anticorruption Centre (CNA) started this morning searches at the Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry, as well as at the office of Minister Eduard Grama. CNA spokeswoman Angela Starinschi has confirmed the information.
“Searches are conducted within a case on attempt to alienate 30 hectares of land in Stauceni village. More details will be given later.” Starinschi said.
In November 2016, 12 persons including current employees, entrepreneurs, jurists and lawyers were detained and later arrested, being accused of creating a scheme of alienating over 30 hectares of land in Stauceni, belonging to the National College of Viticulture and Winemaking in Chisinau. In this case the college director was detained in December 2016.
Defendants would have taken the land on lease for a term of 30 years, and then they tried to plot and market it to some people. To get favorable decisions in order to achieve their intentions, they would have bribed various employees.
Prosecutors opened several criminal cases on this case for fraud, passive and active corruption, influence peddling and forgery of public documents. The suspects run the risk of imprisonment of up to 10 years, if they are found guilty.
