East Europe Foundation gives awards to Moldovan most responsible food sector companies

Chisinau, 18 March /MOLDPRES/ - Ten companies have been awarded at the third issue of a contest, Responsible Food Operator, organized within a project titled, Harmonization of Moldova’s policies in sanitary sector with the European Union’s ones.
The initiative is financed by the Swedish government and the Foreign Ministry of Denmark. The excellence awards were handed at a ceremony held on 17 March evening.
The contest’s goal was to identify companies from Moldova, which are responsibly working in the food sector, while taking into account the interests and rights of consumers. The participants in the competition were monitored by independent qualified inspectors, who assessed the level of security of the production process, level of meeting the European standards of packages/labels and checked the quality of the goods offered to consumers by participating companies.
Five companies from Balti, Singerei, Cimislia and Comrat received excellence awards at the Gold category and another five ones from Singerei, Balti, Cahul and Ungheni – excellence awards at the Silver category.
Attending the awards gala Responsible Food Operator were representatives of the diplomatic corps, as well as of companies working in the food sector, Moldovan and international experts in the food security sector, representatives of the National Agency for Food Safety, Consumer Protection Agency, National Public Health Centre, National Metrology Institute.
