List of presents got by MPs, officials to be published on Moldovan parliament's website each year

Chisinau, 20 March /MOLDPRES/- Symbolic gifts provided to MPs, advisors and officials of the Parliament Secretariat will be declared within 5 days of receipt. The parliament’s standing bureau approved a regulation on record, evaluation, storage, use and redemption of symbolic gifts, those provided as courtesy or during protocol actions, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
Record and assessment of presents will be carried out by a special committee of the parliament secretariat, which will consider the price given by beneficiary or accompanying documents. If the gift does not exceed 1,000 lei, the commission will return it to beneficiary. If the gift exceeds 1,000 lei, the recipient can redeem it by paying equivalent value within 30 calendar days in the state budget.
If the gift has a historical, scientific or artistic value, set by experts on the matter, it will be sent free of charge to museums, libraries and other institutions, by informing the Culture Ministry.
Perishable products, medals, decorations, badges, orders, scarves, columns are exempted from the regulations.
Each year, the commission will make an inventory of gifts and will propose Parliament Speaker list of presents that can be given to charity for free or may be alienated.
The presents will be recorded in a special register called Register of gifts. Annually, the list of gifts and their beneficiaries will be published on the parliament’s website. Also, the presents will be kept in the museum of parliament and displayed in an exhibition hall.
