Negotiations on new Association Agenda held in Chisinau

Chisinau, 24 March /MOLDPRES/- Negotiations on new Association Agenda Moldova-EU for 2017-2019 were held in Chisinau on 23 March. The talks were led by chief negotiators Daniela Morari, Deputy Foreign and European integration Minister, and Dirk Schuebel, Head of the European External Action Service Eastern Partnership Bilateral Division, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media relations service has reported.
The talks were focused on identifying priority actions that need to be taken next three years for good implementation of the EU-Moldova Association Agreement.
The document will focus on 13 key priorities, such as: independence of judiciary system and law enforcement agencies; preventing and combating corruption, fraud and conflict of interest; asset recovery and bank fraud investigation; public administration reform and public finance management; ensuring fundamental rights; Transnistrian conflict settlement; improving business and investment climate; agriculture and rural development; trade reforms; security and energy efficiency; transport, environment and climate action; education and youth.
The new element to the current agenda is that the measures will be structured in short and medium term actions. Such an approach will ensure prioritization and efficiency of implementation efforts.
Also, it is worth mentioning the involvement of civil society in consultations both bilaterally with the Moldovan authorities and trilaterally Moldova and EU.
The text of agenda is to be completed in April 2017.
