Moldovan foreign minister meets Ambassadors of Rapporteur Group on Democracy of Council of Europe's Committee of Ministers

Chisinau, 24 March /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Andrei Galbur, met today with the Rapporteur Group on Democracy (GR-DEM) delegation of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry's information and media communication service has reported.
During the meeting, the interlocutors had an extensive exchange of views on the preliminary outcomes of the visit to the Republic of Moldova and highlighted the valuable contribution of the Council of Europe and member states in promoting reforms at national level, strengthening democratic institutions and confidence-building measures between both banks of Dniester River.
In this context, Minister Andrei Galbur highlighted the Republic of Moldova's interest to facilitate the dialogue with donor countries for fundraising in order to ensure the implementation of the new Council of Europe Action Plan for the Republic of Moldova 2017-2020, targeted for tangible results.
He also welcomed the expertise provided by the Council of Europe in various fields as a very useful and indispensable tool in supporting the ongoing efforts to advance with internal reforms. It was also emphasized the need to maintain the alignment of mutual cooperation with the Republic of Moldova – EU Association Agenda.
GR-DEM delegation consists of Ambassadors, Permanent Representatives to the Council of Europe of Lithuania, Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Romania, Sweden, the Republic of Moldova and the CoE Secretariat officials.
The Council of Europe Action Plan for the Republic of Moldova 2017-2020 was adopted by Ministers' Deputies on 1 February 2017 and aims to assist reforms implementation in priority areas: fighting corruption and money-laundering, increasing effectiveness, accountability and transparency of the judiciary, fighting ill-treatment and impunity, strengthening media freedom and confidence-building measures between both banks of Dniester River.
