Chisinau, 24 March /MOLDPRES/ - The companies of Gas Natural Fenosa of Moldova have extended till 30 March the term of presenting offers for new contracts on acquisition of electric energy, after they prolonged the period of submitting offers till 27 March ten days ago.

A press release by the company reads that “to ensure and promote competition in the process of purchasing electric energy and in line with the Instruction on the annual acquisition of electric energy, as well as taking into account the letter No 06/2-1655 from 23 March 2017, with the recommendation of the Economics Ministry,” the companies of Gas Natural Fenosa in Moldova extended the term of presenting offers till 30 March 2017. The term was prolonged “at the request of offerers, given that they do not manage to present the offers till 27 March.”

Gas Natural Fenosa in Moldova gives assurances that “it undertakes all needed measures to identify the most advantageous offer of supply of electric energy, both in terms of price and reliability and security of provision on the entire period.” The company’s management hopes that the process of selecting offers of purchasing electric energy will end successfully till the present contracts expire.

On 15 March, the Economics Ministry informed that the regulated enterprises from the energy sector had said that they were extending the term of collecting offers, in conditions when “no provider came up with any proposal,” just 15 days before the expiration of old contracts, on 31 March.

The lack of guaranteed offers of electric energy supply in full volume for the period 1 April 2017 – 31 March 2018 from potential providers of Moldova and from abroad “prompted the regulated companies from the electro-energy sector to extend the term of collecting offers till 27 March, this year.”

According to official sources, the only offer came from Ukraine. The Moldovan Power Station, also called Kuchurgan Power Station, which faces certain problems in terms of cost of gas supplied, failed to present its offer.

Just as in 2015, Moldova last year imported energy from a single source – Kuchurgan power plant.
