Moldovan, European officials approach reforms, cooperation

Chisinau, 30 March /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Pavel Filip met President of European Council Donald Tusk in Brussels on 29 March. The officials tackled priorities of internal and external policy of Moldova, achievements recorded in implementation of reforms, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

The premier congratulated the European official on reelection as President of European Council. At the same time, Filip said that Moldova was firmly determined to implement the EU-Moldova Association Agreement and to meet the commitments. The officials especially tackled the Audiovisual Code and Law on integrity.

“We already have a number of important achievements in the reform. However, we realize we must do more. Ensuring justice independence, combating corruption, improving business climate and investigating bank fraud are priorities for us. We want to be a reliable partner of the EU, including in the context of preparation for the Eastern Partnership Summit in November 2017. We will be realistic and constructive to ensure success of this event”, Filip said.

For his part, Tusk welcomed the results and Moldovan authorities’ determination to persevere in strengthening democracy and rule of law, a key element in ensuring the achievement of Moldova’s European integration goals. “You have all my support and of the EU to advance in the reforms for the benefit of Moldovans”, Tusk said.

Filip pays a working visit to Belgium and Luxembourg on 29-31 March.
