Luxembourg parliament speaker wishes Moldova courage, patience, motivation, following European integration

Chisinau, 31 March /MOLDPRES/ - Possibilities of strengthening the Moldovan-Luxembourg political and economic dialogue were discussed at a 30 March meeting between Prime Minister Pavel Filip and Parliament Speaker of the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg Mars di Bartolomeo. The sides stressed the importance of boosting the bilateral cooperation, both between the governments and the parliaments, as well as the need to bolster the collaboration in sectors of mutual interest, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.     

“Luxembourg has proved to be a good friend of Moldova. We felt your support in the implementation of the Association Agreement with EU, for which we are grateful to you,” Pavel Filip said.   

In the context, the PM informed the Luxembourg official about the agenda of reforms of the cabinet, highlighting, in particular, the reforms in the social sector, justice, measures of counteracting corruption, public administration reform. “We need support to carry out these reforms and I do not mean money, I refer to backing in implementing reforms, which we carry out not for EU, but for our citizens,” Prime Minister Pavel Filip emphasized. The PM noted that he wanted the reforms to be irreversible, as well as the citizens to feel their concrete benefits.  

For his part, the Luxembourg parliament speaker said that his country would support Moldova to implement the reforms for the state’s modernization and in its efforts of aligning to the European standards and values, such as freedom, democracy and tolerance. “I wish you to have courage, patience and motivation, and follow the European integration,” Mars di Bartolomeo said.
