EU Commissioner encourages Moldova’s modernization on European model

Chisinau, 31 March /MOLDPRES/ – Prime Minister Pavel Filip had a meeting with European Commissioner for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn in Brussels today. The discussion focused on internal developments and main results in modernization of Moldova, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The Prime Minister appreciated the constant support to Moldova, outlining the report on the Implementation of the Moldova-EU Association Agenda drawn up by the European Union, confirmed progress by authorities in Chisinau in 2016 and set a list of priorities for the next period. "The EU conclusions mostly coincide with ours. Much has been done, but there still remain areas for further efforts needed, including ensuring independence of the judiciary, fight against corruption. Simultaneously, there have to be implemented a number of priority reforms, including that of the public administration," the Head of Executive remarked.
Additionally, Prime Minister said that reforms were ensured through intensive cooperation with the Parliament and dialogue with civil society, by EU financial support.
The sides agreed to continue talks and upon the visit of Commissioner Johannes Hahn to Moldova in July 2017, within the informal meeting of Foreign Ministers of Eastern Partnership, to be hosted by Moldova.
