Moldovan civil servants to be trained as for possibilities of financing offered by Japanese agency

Chisinau, 07 April /MOLDPRES/ – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration (MAEIE) in cooperation with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the State Chancellery held today a workshop for civil central authorities about the possibilities of financing projects submitted to JICA, and requirements which must match the proposed projects. The purpose of the workshop was to improve financing proposals coming from the Republic of Moldova to the Agency so that to increase the number of eligible projects.
According to the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service, Deputy Foreign Minister Daniela Morari thanked JICA for the opening of the workshop, stressing the need to involve all the Moldovan authorities to develop the potential of cooperation with Japan.
Also, Deputy Minister Daniela Morari noted Japan's assistance in areas such as health, agriculture, education, culture, economic and environmental cooperation.
"It is worthy to note that financial assistance from the Japanese partners in our country is estimated at $155 million. In bilateral partnership, Japan is the third largest donor of Moldova. We also appreciate Japanese expertise provided through trainings, advocating enlarging quotas for civil servants in Moldova," said deputy foreign minister.
At his part, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Moldova, Masanobu Yoshii, noted that the program on Official Development Assistance (ODA) played one of the most important roles in promoting good Moldovan-Japanese relations. "Let me assure you that the Government of Japan continues to support Moldova's efforts to strengthen democracy and achieve stable economic growth," said Ambassador Yoshii.
Deputy Secretary of Government Valentin Guznac expressed confidence into the success of that project, thanking the Japanese partners for supporting the socio-economic development of Moldova.
The participants learnt about assistance policies, schedules and registration procedures for funding applications during the workshop. Also presented case studies based on projects implemented by the JICA in Moldova.
Note: The JICA is an agency that coordinates assistance for socio-economic development, provided by the Japanese Government in developing countries.
