More Moldovan settlements disconnected from power supply because of rains, wind

Chisinau, 8 April /MOLDPRES/ - Twenty two Moldovan settlements have been disconnected from power supply because of the heavy rains and strong wind from the last 24 hours.
Contacted by MOLDPRES, a press officer at the Civil Protection and Emergency Situations Service, Diana Turcanu, said that it was about partial disconnections in settlements from the districts of Orhei, Stefan Voda, Telenesti, Cantemir, Vulcanesti, Leova, Ungheni, Singerei and the Autonomous Territorial Unit Gagauz-Yeri.
“This is a state of things which cannot be described as particularly serious and the competent services undertake all measures to improve the situation,” Turcanu noted.
The State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS) today issued a yellow code of wind gusting all over Moldova. According to SHS data, north-western wind gusting up to 15-20 metres/second is forecast for today.
A SHS specialist, Natalia Cancer, told MOLDPRES that temporary disconnections of power supply and interruptions of telecommunications relations were possible on this period; tree branches may break and dry bushes may fall down.
Data by the State Hydrometeorological Service shows that minimum air temperatures down to -1 Celsius degree are forecast at night in north Moldova and maximum temperatures of up to + 16 degrees in the southern region.
