Moldovan Democratic Party condemns attempt to assassinate formation's leader

Chisinau, 8 April /MOLDPRES/ - The Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM) today condemned the attempt of assassination against the formation’s leader Vlad Plahotniuc and expects the law enforcers identify all persons involved in the attempt to commit the murder. 

In a press release by the party, PDM said that, at this stage, it would abstain from commenting on speculations as to the goal of those who would have plotted the attempt. “We firmly condemn this criminal act and we expect the law enforcement institutions further do their duty with professionalism and identify all those involved, including the ones who ordered the murder. We keep a quite close eye on the official communiqués by the authorities from the two countries and the evolution of the investigation on this case,” the formation’s press service said.  

The law enforcers of Moldova and Ukraine today informed on the detention of a criminal group which would have intended to commit the assassination of the Democrats’ leader, Vlad Plahotniuc. Seventeen persons were members of the group, eight of whom were detained Moldova and another nine in Ukraine.

If found guilty, the suspects run the risk of being sentenced to 15-20 years of imprisonment.
