Moldovan victims of Chernobyl disaster to receive compensation under new regulation

Chisinau, 20 April /MOLDPRES/ – The decision to approve the Regulation on the way of establishing and paying the unique material aid for the recovery of the persons who suffered from the Chernobyl disaster will be published tomorrow in Moldovan Official Journal.
According to the document, the amount of material aid will be determined on the basis of the average monthly salary for the previous year, the amount depending on the degree of disability and the period of participation of the persons in the liquidation of the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster.
The persons with severe, high and medium disabilities will receive two average salaries, and employees of risk subdivisions – one and a half salary. The persons who participated in the liquidation of the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster in 1986-1987 will receive an average salary and those delegated between 1988-1990 – 50 per cent of the average monthly salary for the previous year.
The single material allowance will be set and paid once a year and can be lifted on the basis of acts confirming disability. The assistance unpaid because of death of the beneficiary will be paid to the relatives.
The National Social Security House will be responsible for establishing and paying the single payment.
