Around 560 localities disconnected from electricity due to bad weather in Moldova

Chisinau, 21 April /MOLDPRES/ – About 560 localities in the southern and central parts of Moldova have remained partially or totally disconnected from electricity due to strong wind gusts, numerous wire breaks and damage to isolation.
According to Gas Natural Fenosa info, the most complicated situation is in the central and southern districts of Moldova, such as Criuleni, Straseni, Orhei, Ialoveni, Cimislia, Leova, Hincesti, Cantemir, Causeni, Stefan Voda and Chisinau suburb outskirts. "At present, all operating teams of the company and collaborating companies perform repair works for damaged air-lines for energy replenishment of the affected localities," the press service of Gas Natural Fenosa said.
Asked by the agency, the press officer of the Civil Protection and Emergency Situations Service, Diana Turcanu, said that during the recent 24 hours, the rescue teams have worked to unlock and tow more than 200 means of transport, in which there were about 400 persons, including minors. "All forces are actively working to mitigate the consequences and help citizens. People are urged not to leave the homes if they do not have urgent needs, and especially not to go on long journeys, because there are local roads in the southern and central districts of the country, where the circulation is with great difficulty. In case of exceptional circumstances, citizens are asked to call emergency numbers, 901 and 902," said Turcanu.
According to the National Patrol Inspectorate info, 10 road accidents with 11 traumatized persons, nearly 130 accidents with material damage, over 160 damaged cars and seven traumatized persons have been recorded in the recent 24 hours.
The State Hydrometeorological Service issued, for the period 18-24 April, throughout the country Yellow Code for the sudden cooling of weather, frosts, strong precipitation and wind intensification. Thus, during this period frosts are expected at the surface of the soil with the intensity of -1...-4°C, isolated in air 0...-3°C. Today snow forecasts are expected, and frosts in the air are forecast for tomorrow with the intensity of -1...- 4°C.
