Moldova has European mechanism of quick response to natural calamities

Chisinau, 26 April /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet of ministers today approved a framework regulation on providing support to the host country in emergency situations. Thus, the Civilian Protection and Emergency Situations Service at the Interior Ministry (MAI) was nominated as national contact point for organizing support to the host country, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The regulation establishes ways of providing international assistance at a request by the Moldovan government to liquidate the consequences of emergency situations which took place in Moldova, as well as ways of providing emergency assistance to other countries by Moldova.
The document regulates the models of forms for requesting and providing assistance, as well as functional obligations of the team for providing assistance to the host country. At the same time, the regulation sees the actions of the state’s institutions that will be involved in the process of settlement of problems faced by the international intervention teams and will provide assistance to facilitate the crossing of the border, carry out the customs control, as well as to recognize the competences of the side which offers help.
The provisions of the regulation result from the Moldova – EU Association Agreement and are based on the ones of the bilateral agreements on cooperation in the sector of civilian protection and overcoming consequences of the emergency situations, signed by Moldova and other states.
