Moldovan government to increase minimum guaranteed quantum of salary in real sector by 280 lei as of 1 May 2017

Chisinau, 26 April /MOLDPRES/ - The minimum guaranteed quantum of the salary in the real sector (at enterprises, organizations, institutions with financial autonomy, no matter the type of property and form of legal organization) will be increased by 280 lei as of 1 May 2017, up to 2,380 lei, under a cabinet decision adopted by the government at a today meeting.     

Presently the minimum guaranteed salary is 2,100 lei. According to the draft decision, unveiled by the Labour, Social Protection and Family Ministry, the minimum guaranteed quantum is established at 14.09 lei per hour or 2,380 lei per month, calculated for a full work schedule of an average of 169 hours per month.   

The minimum guaranteed quantum of the salary in the real sector is annually re-considered by the cabinet, depending on the summary annual increase of the consumer prices index and the labour productivity rate. When setting the new level, an inflation rate of 6.4 per cent (2016 year against 2015), a 4.8-per cent rate of growth of the gross added value, a two-per cent decrease of the average number of staff workers in 2016 against 2015 were taken into account.    

The rate of increase of the labour productivity is the percentage ratio between rate of increase of the gross added value and the rate of increase in the average number of staff workers and stood at 6.9 per cent. Thus, the annual summary increase in the consumer prices index and the rate of increase in the labour productivity nationally is of 13.3 per cent.  

According to the legislation in force, in case units apply the tariff system of wage payment or in case the non-tariff system of wage payment is applied, the monthly salary of an employee cannot be lower than the minimum guaranteed quantum of the salary in the real economy, established by the government, following the consultation with the social partners.
