Moldovan deputy foreign minister participates at UNECE anniversary meeting

Chisinau, 26 April /MOLDPRES/ – Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Lilian Darii participated in the work of the high level segment of the 67th Session of the UN Economic Commission for Europe “UNECE at 70: Economic Integration and Cooperation towards 2030”, which took place on 26 April 2017, in Geneva, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.
During the high level segment, Deputy Minster Darii delivered a statement on the developments in the cooperation between Moldova and UNECE. He mentioned the substantial assistance offered by UNECE to the Republic of Moldova and other member states. He also referred to economic, social and security challenges the European continent is currently confronted with.
The anniversary session finalized with the adoption of a High-level Statement that reconfirmed the fundamental role of UNECE in the economic integration of Europe.
On the margins of the session, Deputy Minister Darii held meetings with UNECE Executive Secretary Christian Bach and Director-General of United Nations Office at Geneva Michael Møller. During the meetings, the officials exchanged views on the ways aimed at enhancing cooperation with the UN institutions in Geneva particularly in the area of technical assistance in such areas as trade facilitation, environmental protection and transportation.
